About Me

Hi, I'm Kevin, nice to meet you.  Although I am not a native Calgarian, I have been able to call the city home, along with my wife and daughter, for 20 years now.  I am fortunate to have been able to train and work as a therapist in this beautiful city and have worked in a number of different clinical settings including homeless shelters, Urgent Care, Adult Psychiatry, Addictions & Mental Health, and now private practice.

I am a graduate of the University of Calgary and hold a Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work Practice (2010) and also am a Registered Clinical Social Worker.  Through a process of ongoing clinical education and professional development I have obtained Advanced Training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Certification in Cybercounselling through the University of Toronto, and I have completed EMDR training through the EMDR Centre of Canada.  I have a special interest in working with mood disorders and anxiety, post-secondary students, and peri and post-partum fathers.

When not in sessions or working in a clinic, I am busy spending time with my family outdoors...biking, hiking, travelling and more.

If you find yourself worrying all the time about everything, or anything; or find yourself avoiding social settings or gatherings of people; or if you find yourself afraid of specific things, or places; or if you find that your thoughts become hyperfocussed on something and you do behaviors to stop them...then you may have a problem with anxiety.  Lets talk about that.

Sometimes life can really get us down for specific reasons, or no reason at all.  If you find that you are often sad all the time, withdraw from people you love, have low motivation or drive, and feel the urge to stay in bed all day, or if you find the opposite with an abundance of energy, no need for sleep, and impuslive behavior.... you may have a problem with mood disorder.  Lets talk about that.

Life can be very challenging at times and hard and painful things can happen to us or around us.  This can be car accidents, assaults, bullying, neglect, or abuse (physical, sexual, emotional).

Let's face it, life as we know it has changed us... people are experiencing stress from all aspects of life and it impacts our mental health and wellbeing.  Stress can affect all aspects of our functioning and can result in burnout, compassion fatigue, any many other conditions.  If you are struggling with stress, lets talk.

Becoming a new father, whether its the first time, or for a second, third, or fourth time...is both joyous and stressful.  Our roles as husbands and men change in an instant.  The dynamics of our families change.  Or, sometimes births don't go as planned.  These changes and events can be hard to handle and can result in anxiety, depression, anger, or even traumatic reactions.  If this is you...lets talk
